Conflict Resolution - Brain Pop

Life can be frustrating. You’re not always going to get along with your friends and family, and they won’t always get along with you. And anger and frustration are natural human emotions, so there’s no way you can avoid feeling them. But there are ways to disagree without being disagreeable--and in this BrainPOP movie on conflict resolution, Tim and Moby will tell you all about them! First, you’ll find out why it’s a good idea to take a deep breath and collect yourself before you respond to a situation you’re not thrilled about. You’ll discover different ways to compromise, and how placing yourself in another person’s shoes can change a potential screaming match into a friendly discussion. Why risk alienating your friends and hurting people’s feelings, when you can settle your differences fairly?

Sharing and Taking Turns - Skill Building Buddies

Skill Building Buddies is geared specifically for children who live with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Scenarios are broken down and each step is verbally described for the viewer, which is very helpful for a child with ASD who may have trouble reading nonverbal cues. Flashcards with visuals for "Look" (eye), "Listen" (ear), and "Stay Calm" (hands facing down) are used in the video to prompt children on how to respond when they start to get frustrated. The mix of animation and real-life scenarios, coupled with music videos, makes for an educational and entertaining video, that will sustain the attention of most young children with ASD or other social skills deficits, or those typically functioning preschoolers struggling to learn these important life skills.
